Scenic Vancouver can sell itself
With majestic mountains, sunsets on the sea and some of the best skiing on the planet just two hours away, Vancouver just sells itself.
It has to. There isn't enough money for anyone else to sell it.
"It would be great if we could do much more promotion of the city when everybody is paying attention," says Geoff Meggs, a Vancouver city councillor and point man for the 2010 Olympic Games at city hall. "But we're not doing any advertising on global media about Vancouver. It would be great ... to do that, but we aren't doing it." "I'm hopeful there's a real economic boost here, in particular over the long term as we see all of the attention that we are going to get from this, the exposure globally, that we are able to leverage that," he said. "Vancouver is a great place."
